While a few Leafs players have struggled through the first four games of the series against the Bruins, the biggest surprise might be Kasperi Kapanen.
Kapanen, a huge contributor during the regular season has yet to get a single point in the series. He also sits at a plus minus of -1. He is only one of two Leaf players without a point against the Bruins. The other being Frederik Gauthier.
The Leafs could really use a jolt from Kapanen, one of their most explosive players. He can change a game instantly with his speed. Anytime he gets the puck something special could happen. Him getting going could give the Leafs some rhythm to the offensive side of their game.
Both games in which the Leafs have lost (game two and four) they have fallen behind the Bruins early. If Kapanen can use his speed to make a difference early and give the Leafs a quick advantage it could do wonders. That would cause the Bruins to change their strategy and switch up the pace of play.
Kapanen ended the season with 44 points in 78 games and reached the 20 goal mark. Getting him going could make the difference in this tight back and forth series.
Hopefully in game five Kapanen can find his mojo and get himself on the score sheet. Maybe even something big like the double overtime winner in game two against the Washington Capitals in 2017.
